New Emission Regulations in London

One of the initiatives arising from the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) was launched in central London in April 2019 covering the same area as the Congestion Charge. This is due to be expanded to the rest of inner London in October 2021. The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) covering the whole of Greater London is due to launch in October 2020.

With a few exceptions, all vans, lorries, coaches, buses, cars, motorbikes and other vehicles will now need to meet new, stricter emission standards or pay a daily ULEZ charge (in addition to the weekday Congestion Charge).

Current charges are £12.50 for most vehicles, including cars, motorcycles and vans (up to 3.5 tonnes). For heavier vehicles, including lorries (over 3.5 tonnes), buses and coaches, the daily rate is £100.00.

ULEZ replaces the old T-Charge (officially known as the Emissions Surcharge) which was introduced in October 2017.

Public and Commercial Electric Vehicle Charging

Sigma Networks supply, install and maintain the Char.gy electric vehicle charging solution.

Where possible, we utilise existing local mains infrastructure to install our smart lamp post charging points. In cases where greater flexibility is the priority, we supply smart bollard charging points.

The lamp post and bollard solutions are not only suitable for public highways, they can be deployed in a variety of commercial sites, supermarket car parks, sports centres, train station car parks and residential apartment blocks.

Drivers can use the user-friendly Char.gy smartphone app to control all functions including finding a nearby charge point, checking its availability and status. Customers can use the app to register for an account, start a Pay As You Go (PAYG) session with Apple Pay or Google Pay and commence a charging session. Once plugged in, they can also use the app to monitor the progress of each session.

The app receives status notifications, and can end a charging session. Users can also access a help desk together with managing subscriptions and payments.
